Research Interest

  • Roots play an important role in drought avoidance in plants. Hence my research interest is to study the molecular-genetic mechanism involved in root growth and development under drought stress in wheat. The work involves identification and functional characterization of genes in model plants including Arabidopsis, tobacco and rice. To understand the genetics of drought tolerance and its component traits, we are also mapping QTLs for drought tolerance in wheat.
