Who can apply? The internship cum project work-training offers hands-on training in the areas of plant molecular biology, plant biotechnology, plant genomics and bioinformatics to students pursuing M.Sc./ M. Tech. and B.Sc. or B. Tech. in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Life Science/Agriculture Biotechnology disciplines. Please note that this program is not meant for the passed-out candidates.
What is the duration of the training program? The training duration is three to six months. Duration of less than 3 months is strictly discouraged.
Is the training payable? Yes, the training at ICAR-NIPB is chargeable. The course fee for long-term (i.e., more than 3 months) is Rs. 5000/- per month plus service tax (+GST 18%) and for Short-term (i.e., 3 months), a consolidated amount of Rs 15000+18%GST will be charged. Alternatively, a demand draft in favour of Director, NIPB, payable at New Delhi can also be submitted.
How to apply? Interested candidates can submit the duly filled-in application form (https://nipb.icar.gov.in/long-term-training). Please note that the incomplete applications will be rejected. So, the candidate is advised to fill them carefully leaving no blanks. The complete application with the relevant documents as a single PDF file can be sent to hrdnrcpb@gmail.com.
How are the candidates selected? Students who have submitted the complete form with all the relevant documents and having a good academic record will be identified by a selection committee for possible training subjected to terms and conditions.
When to apply? Applications are accepted all-round the year as different educational institutions have different academic calendars.
How to know that the candidate has been selected or not? Within a month of sending the application, the candidate will be informed by e-mail about their selection.
How are the students trained? Based on the area of research indicated by the students in their application, the selected candidate will be assigned to work in one of the on-going projects of the centre under the supervision of a scientist of ICAR-NIPB.
Is project report compulsory? Yes, the selected candidates, on completion of project work, are needed to submit a thesis/report/dissertation to his/her institution duly signed by the mentor scientist of NIPB as supervisor. A copy of this report must also be submitted to the mentor scientist.
Will the trainees be rewarded with publications and IPR arising out of their work? The data generated during the training at ICAR-NIPB will be purely the intellectual property rights of ICAR-NIPB. Hence, any publication or IPR resulting from the project work will be in the name of ICAR-NIPB. It is further added that parent University of the trainee student does not have any right to claim over the data collected during the project work and cannot utilize these data for any publication or making reports/ abstracts.
Do the trainees get boarding and lodging? We are sorry, ICAR-NIPB does not have hostel or guest house facility and so the students have to make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging.
